Different bulbs at different power ratings can have differing light output. Was reading thru some forums and got onto the Benq refurb page..and noticed a few nice deals.Was originally interested in the listed projector, but for space reasons decided not to. Interesting to note: 2700 Lumens, 6000Hrs claimed projector lamp life, and of course HDMI input and 3D.

I know, I know. At the screen sizes projected EVERYONE will look down their noses at its mere 720p resolution. Owners of this projector will therefore feel great shame and a feeling of intense emptiness. Of course, their wallets will also be fatter. But no matter, because on top of being soooooo 2009, this product is also a refurb, which must surely mean it's crap. In all seriousness, this was a lower tier home theater projector, and refurbished products do carry bulb concerns. Plus, even though it's LCD, it doesn't have lens shift, which is one of LCD's major selling points for projectors. Still, for someone who wants to get their feet wet with a projector (and I highly recommend doing so to see if front projection is for you before splurging on a higher end model), this offers a great opportunity. I've tried some LED night lights that looked bluish white and really didn't like them.
These bulbs replace regular night light bulbs so you can use them in fixtures that you already have and they only use .5W compared to the usual 5-7W.I ordered 5 of them at $1.79/ea for $8.95 plus $2.26 for first class shipping.
The total was $11.21. If I like them I'll order some more.Just thought I'd share my find.

What is a Lumen?
Lumens are a measure of the perceived power of light -- i.e. of light you can see. Waves of light that are beyond the spectrum visible to the human eye are not included in the lumen.
What is a Watt?
A watt is defined as the amount of power needed to move a one kilogram (2.2 pound) object at a speed of one meter per second against a force of one newton. In simple terms, it is a measure of the amount of energy something either uses or produces. One watt is equal to 1/746 horsepower.
What is the Difference?
Because watts and lumens are measures of different things, there is not necessarily any correlation between them. For example, a conventional light bulb and a compact fluorescent light bulb may put out the same number of lumens, but the conventional bulb will consume three to five times the number of watts needed by the compact fluorescent.

There is a misconception that watts represent brightness. Brightness is measured in lumens; watts represent the power consumed by the bulb. Watts and lumens are unrelated, which is why many bulbs have an "equivalent wattage."
Typical Values
Sixty-watt incandescents and 13-watt compact fluorescents typically have 900 lumens; 7-watt LED bulbs have around 300 lumens. Two-watt flashlight bulbs and half-watt LED bulbs typically have 20 lumens.
Lumens and Watts
A bulb's efficiency is better measured by dividing the lumens by the watts (lumens per watt). The higher the quotient, the better the bulb's efficiency.
Lumens Per Watt Values
The 60-watt bulb has 15 lumens per watt, the compact fluorescent has 69 lumens per watt and the LED bulb has 42 lumens per watt. Incandescent and LED flashlight bulbs have 10 lumens per watt and 40 lumens per watt, respectively.

Not FAR but 4/$1 seems pretty good. They are the same physical size as a regular

They might seem pricey at first, but dimmable CCFL comes at a price premium. I paid almost this much for ONE bulb a couple years ago. For those who scoff at bulb warranties, understand that CCFL is not the same as regular CFL. CCFL can operate at lower temperatures than CFL and can withstand alot of on/off cycles. CCFL is the same technology used in the backlights of LCD monitors and HDTVs.The one review on HD's site complains about condensation and flicker. They must be using it in a harsh outdoor environment. The packaging instructions specifically state the bulb must face up when installed outdoors unless it's in an enclosure. The light quality looks good to me, so I have to disagree with the reviewer.Online price $11.97. Local store's price is $12.47.Remember FW CB 3% or BCB 5%.
